Mary Carney's Group Quilt

I find it impossible to look at this quilt and not smile! Mary Carney participated in a block swap within her small quilting group in Augusta, GA. Each block is the same star pattern and contains the focus fabric of brightly colored florals on a black background. I love how she was able to make these diverse blocks shine in her own creative setting... loosely based on the BQ quilt pattern from Maple Island Quilts. I say loosely because Mary is known for taking a pattern and making it uniquely her own. I used black The Bottom Line thread to create an overall swirly pattern over the quilt top. Can you see the butterflies in the quilt backing? Thank you, Mary, for letting me be a part of this fun quilt!

Carol West's Quilt

This quilt of Carol's was already beautifully hand quilted in the two outer borders, but arthritis was preventing her from finishing the quilt center and one side of the inner border. I have a renewed appreciation for hand quilting and basting... I wish you could really see her amazing stitches!
I did paisley swirls in the center and finished off the fourth inner border with leaves similar to Carol's handstitched ones.
I feel blessed to be a part in transforming a quilt from a UFO stashed in the closet to a family treasure!
